The Detailed 10 Days, 9 Nights Wildlife Safari in Kenya
Our 10 days, 9 nights safari in Kenya is the perfect way to experience the beauty and Wildlife of Africa. We will show you an unforgettable journey with trips to some of the most stunning national parks in Kenya.
Day 1: Pickup from JKIA - Spend the Day at Ololo Farm
Our safari guide will pick you up from the airport and chauffer you to the classically elegant Ololo Farm. Get settled in, and if you are up to it, we’ll take you on an exciting evening game drive around the Nairobi National Park.
See, the park is the only one of its kind in the world to be located within a capital city, so yes, the experience is quite extraordinary. This game drive promises to capture sightings of over 100 mammal species (including the Big Five), wide open grasslands, a jaw-dopping backdrop of the city’s skyscrapers, and over 400 bird species.
Day 2: Amboseli Flight - Afternoon Game Drives
Let the sight of the breathtakingly beautiful Ngong Hills and the sumptuous breakfast before you be the only things competing for your attention this morning. Later, our safari representative will brief you on the happenings of your day before driving you to Wilson Airport for a 45-minute flight to Amboseli.
The Elewana Tortilis Camp… the advantage of this one is that it is located deep in the park’s heart, meaning that the drive to the camp is a game drive in itself.
Elephants, lions, giraffes, antelopes, zebras, ostriches, hyraxes, dik-dik- expect to see loads of these on your way there. And then, when you get to the park, take your tastebuds on an adventure of their own with an Elewana Tortilis lunch.
Rest. Frolick. Laze around. Then, in the evening, join us for an evening game drive. Rarely do tourists experience an event as magical as an Amboseli evening game drive.
The spectacular views of Kilimanjaro. The lush and expansive grasslands. The sunset. The wildlife. The serene ambiance. It is all so captivating and surreal.
We drive you around the park long enough to have you utterly drunk on its charm, then, before nightfall, we drive you back to the camp for dinner.
Day 3: Morning and Afternoon Game Drives
To the first-time safari goer, it might be difficult to envision the phenomenal treat in store. But the oldies know… morning game drives are the very joy of any and every safari.
Just before sunrise… that is when this adventure begins, and true to what they say, morning game drives are when nature is at its most vivacious.
The lions, elephants, buffaloes, dik-dik, waterbucks, zebras, giraffes, and hyraxes all scatter across the grasslands, diligently and relentlessly searching for that refreshing first meal of the day.
And for us? We are at the center of it all, fully armed with our cameras and curiosities.
Oh, and another thing about Amboseli mornings… That is when the view of mighty Kilimanjaro is clearest, and boy, is it a sight to behold.
Afternoon game drives typically begin anywhere from 3 PM to 4 PM. They’re not as busy as the morning game drives (in terms of wildlife sightings), but the color and drama they present are unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. Deep blue skies punctuated by towering Kilimanjaro, lush grasslands, yellowing grasslands, and verdant acacias- it’s all there, and it’s magical.
We stick around till sunset (another sight to behold) after which we drive you back to your camp for dinner.
Day 4: Flight to Loisaba Conservancy & Afternoon Game Drive
Check you out of Elewana Tortilis and drive you to the Amboseli Airstrip for a light aircraft flight to Loisaba Conservancy. Here, you will be received and checked into the Elewana Loisaba Tented Camp by one of their representatives. Lunch? A refreshing afternoon swim? The choice is yours.
We head to the conservancy for an evening game drive in the evening.
The Loisaba Conservancy… 57,000 acres big and brimming with wildlife, birdlife, and captivating sceneries. This evening game drive allows you to interact with some of its 50 mammal species, including the endangered reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, elephant, lion, leopard, the African wild dog, and dik-dik.
You also get to dine in the wild, surrounded by the many breathtaking wonders of Loisaba- think towering ridges, distant views of the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya, wildlife, and golden grasslands that stretch as far as the eyes can see.
Day 5: Morning and Afternoon Game Drives - Other Activities
Begin your day with a sumptuous breakfast served in a dining room overlooking Mt. Kenya, then join us for an exciting on-foot exploration of Loisaba. Intimate and exhilarating are the two words that best describe this experience.
Exhilarating because the beauty of Loisaba is unfathomable, from its vast and unique wildlife populations to the astounding variety of its vegetation.Intimate? Yes! Intimate. Because you get to have a close, one-on-one interaction with Loisaba’s flora and fauna.
And yes, you are safe because experienced safari guides chaperone these safaris. We return to the camp at midday for lunch and then return to the conservancy in the late afternoon for an afternoon game drive.
A sundowner is how you end day 5. Bring a camera with you- you will regret it if you don’t.
Day 6: Morning and Afternoon Game Drives - Other Activities
Sunrise finds us in the heart of Loisaba, gawking and marveling at the vibrance it begets. There’s a lot of wildlife action to catch… Lots of bird action too…
Later, when it’s a little brighter and warmer, we embark on a camelback bush exploration adventure. Now, this one is one for the books. It gets you closer to the wildlife and gives you a better, more intimate understanding of the conservancy.
You get to ride amongst huge herds of elephants and zebras, towers of giraffes, and, if you’re lucky, watch a pride of lions from a distance.
Again, all safaris are escorted by a well-versed guide, so you’re safe. Breakfast is served in the bush, after which you are treated to a pampering spa sesh in the wild. Luxurious? Definitely! And also quite scenic.
At midday, we head back to the camp for lunch and return to the conservancy for an evening game drive later that evening. Dinner is served at the Elewana Loisaba Tented Camp.
Day 7: Flight to Masai Mara & Afternoon Game Drive
Breakfast, an early morning check-out, and a game drive on your way to the Loisaba Airstrip, where you’ll board a flight to Masai Mara.
On arrival, we check you into the Elewana Sand River and leave you to yourself for an hour or two. Have lunch, stroll around the property (it is gorgeous), then join us for an evening game drive.
Nothing, and we mean nothing, can prepare you for the pure, humbling power of a Mara evening game drive. The sunset, the golden grasslands, the teeming wildlife, and birds all seem to be in cahoots to create an experience anyone who experiences it won’t forget.
And we bring a bottle of champagne too!
Day 8: Morning and Afternoon Game Drives at Masai Mara
First light of dawn… We are in the heart of an outstanding safari destination, and there is sufficient evidence all around us. See, the Mara is one of the most wildlife-dense parks in Kenya. With it comes over 90 different mammal species, 450 bird species, just under 280 reptile species, 135 snake species, 17 turtles, and 125 lizards- it’s a real jungle out there!
We cruise you around the park in a 4×4 open-topped safari van, introducing you to a good chunk of this wildlife. Expect to see countless elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos, dik-dik, wildebeests, antelopes, waterbucks, bushbucks, giraffes, hyraxes, wild dogs, cheetahs, rhinos, and, if you are lucky, the elusive leopard.
Our afternoon game drive begins at the Mara River, best known for its infamous role in the Great Wildebeest Migration. Every year, over 2 million wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles migrate from Tanzania’s Serengeti to Kenya’s Masai Mara in search of new grazing lands and water. To get into either of the parks, the animals must swim across the Mara, an undertaking best described as a bloodbath.
Hiding underneath these murky waters are thousands of hippos and crocodiles, and the animals must find their way past these vicious beasts.
Book your safari anywhere from July to October, and you can witness this spectacle first-hand. But worry not if you are way ahead or past schedule; the Mara River still attracts a decent amount of wildlife all year round.
In the evening, we enjoy a magical sundowner in the park.
Day 9: Hot-Air Balloon Safari/ Evening Game Drive
To experience a Mara hot-air balloon safari is to experience nirvana itself. Seriously, it is that magical! We pick you up from the camp just before sunrise and drive you to the balloon’s take-off site. Here, you enjoy a cup of chai as you watch the balloon’s crew prepare it for take-off.
You are on air a few minutes later, silently gliding over Mara’s savannah grassland. The wildlife, the golden grasslands, the scattered acacias- the view from up there is out-of-this-world.
The ride lasts an hour and is commemorated with a champagne bush breakfast at the balloon’s landing site. We’ll drive you back to the camp and pick you up for an evening game drive.
Day 10: Flight Back to Nairobi/ Return Flight to the UK
Breakfast, an early morning check out, and a drive to the Keekorok Airstrip, where you’ll board a flight to Nairobi. Our safari director receives you on arrival and transfers you to Hemingways Nairobi, where you’ll spend your afternoon. Later, we will chauffeur you to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where you’ll board your flight home.
