Some of the activities included in this package include a morning game drive, afternoon game drive, hot air balloon safari, posh tented camp, and more. This package also makes it possible to go for evening game drives as well as night game drives. Next, we look at what you can expect to see on each of your 10 days in Kenya.

Day 1: Arrival, Welcome, and Drive to Aberdare National Park. Afternoon Game Drive.

Your guide will be waiting for you, whether it’s late at night or early in the morning. However, we recommend that you catch a flight that lands no later than 6:00 a.m. for easier execution of planned events.

Pleasantries will be exchanged over a cup of chai (Kenyan tea), and once you’re well-rested, we begin our trip to the Aberdare National Park. We check you into the Rhino Watch Safari Lodge leave you to rest for an hour or two, and pick you up later for an afternoon game drive.

If anything, Aberdare is gorgeous, from its picturesque ravines to its sightly waterfalls, open moorlands, and huge variety of wildlife. This evening game drive is dedicated to wildlife spotting. Each to catch in Aberdare National Park being black rhinos, colobus monkeys, elephants, baboons, hyenas, leopards, bushbucks, buffaloes, warthogs, giant hogs, serval cats, duikers, civet cats, and golden cats.

The game drive will stretch till sunset, after which we resume the lodge for dinner and to take in the cool weather of Central Kenya.

Day 2 of your 10 Day in Kenya: Full-day Game Drives in Aberdare National Park

Morning game drives are the epitome of perfection, and there are few places where this is truer than in the Aberdare. From sunrise to midday, we drive you around the park introducing you to its wonders- think majestic peaks, intriguing waterfalls, moorlands, grasslands, river valleys, and ridges.

There’s also a diverse range of wildlife to explore and over 290 bird species to view.

At midday, we find a sightly spot by a waterfall and sit for lunch.

Your afternoon game drive begins an hour later.

In the afternoons, wildlife gathers around the watering holes to cool down from the scorching sun. We are there to witness all the elephants spraying each other with water, the buffaloes and warthogs mud-wallowing, the lions lapping water, and the birds taking a swim.

We also partake in some scenery watching; the Chania and Karuru waterfalls, bamboo forests, and alpine vegetation are our muse. Our game drive spans till evening and ends with a dreamy sundowner.

Suggested hotel: Rhino Watch Safari Lodge

Day 3: Aberdare National Park to Ol Pejeta Conservancy- Afternoon Game Drive

The 3-hour road trip to Ol Pejeta is no doubt the highlight of our 10-day Kenya safari on this day. But before that, you get to enjoy an elegant breakfast served in your room or at the resort’s restaurant.

Once we get there (Ol Pejeta), we check you into the Sweetwaters Serena Camp, leave you to rest for a while, and pick you up later that afternoon for an afternoon game drive.

The Ol Pejeta is one of the world’s most exciting and diverse parks. Your afternoon game drive teases this magnificence with a drive around its wildlife-swamped grasslands. Keep those eyes peeled for gazelles, elands, zebras, giraffes, rhinos, lions, hyenas, wildebeests, elephants, and the rare wild dog and leopard.

Suggested hotel: Sweetwaters Serena Camp or Equivalent

Meal Plan: Full-board

Day 4: Full-day Safari in Ol Pejeta with Picnic Lunch

Ol Pejeta at sunrise is an event word can’t do justice to. The landscape is beautifully pristine then, and vibrant with joyous melodies of awakening birds. We are right there, in the middle of it all, weaving along barely visible tracks in search of its famous wonders.

The first is the wildlife- the giraffes, wildebeests, gazelles, zebras, black rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, lions, chimpanzees, and two of the world’s only remaining northern white rhinos.

Then comes the scenery; a riveting combination of lush grasslands, acacia drepanolobium, and scattered thickets. And last but not least, the birds (over 500 species).

We stop briefly for a packed lunch, after which the second leg of our game drive begins; the afternoon game drive.

We spend the afternoon chasing the rhinos all around the park on horseback. There’s Najin and Fatu- two of the world’s only remaining northern white rhinos- about 80 black rhinos, six southern white rhinos, and Baraka, the blind black rhino.

In the evening, we head to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary for a one-on-one with its close to 40 chimps (the Ol Pejeta is the only place you can catch these in Kenya).

Suggested hotel: Sweetwaters Serena Camp or Equivalent

Afternoon game drives in the Samburu are a class act. One, because the Samburu is so pristine and unspoiled, and two, because there’s plenty of wildlife to catch.

We are in the park from afternoon till sunset, marveling at the wildlife(there are over 75 different species here) and breathtaking scenery. In the evening, we have a sundowner, after which we drive you back to your camp.

The park also hosts over 450 bird species and is one of the best places to spot wild dogs.

To tickle your fancy is a riveting scenery that combines lush grasslands, riverine forests, scattered acacias, and the roaring, midnight blue waters of the Ewaso Nyiro.

Day 7: Morning Game Drive – Flight to Mara and Evening Game Drive.

No matter how often you do it, you can never get tired of a Samburu National reserve morning game drive. There’s always something new to fuss about, and even when there isn’t, the oldies are always goldies (no one ever gets over spotting a leopard or lion or elephant).

For this game drive, we weave past the grasslands and riverine forests, revealing countless wildlife. We also take some time to sightsee, and if you’re up for it, a camel trek or nature walk can be arranged.

We check out of the resort at 10:00 a.m and drive you to the Buffalo Springs Airstrip, where you catch a 1 hr 55 min flight to the Maasai Mara.

We check you into the BasecampMasai Mara, leave you to relax for an hour or two, then pick you up later that evening for an evening game drive.

The Maasai Mara game reserve is breathtaking, and nothing showcases this beauty better than an evening game drive. This game drive introduces you to the gently rolling grasslands of the Mara and the over 99 different mammal species resident in it. It is also the perfect opportunity to observe the birds (there are over 450 species) and witness the legendary Mara sunset.

Wildebeest migration in Masai Mara
Kenya Itinerary 10 days - Wildebeest migration safari

Day 8: Full-Day Safari in Maasai Mara – Picnic Lunch Inside the Park.

Few things, if any, match up to the beauty of a Maasai Mara morning game drive. The chirping birds, the sunrise, the increased wildlife sightings- it’s all so beautiful and serene you’ll want it never to end.

Watch in awe as the elephants, lions, buffaloes, dik-dik, wildebeests, giraffes, hartebeests, rhinos, zebras, hippos, jackals, hyenas, and antelopes walk past your van. Watch in horror/ excitement as a cheetah relentlessly chases at a springbok. Head to the Maasai Mara River and catch the lethal charge of a crocodile toward a gazelle. And when the clock strikes midday, join us for a delicious packed lunch in the park’s heart.

Your afternoon game drive begins an hour later.

Afternoon means lazy time in the jungle. At this time, the wildlife is either in the Mara River cooling down, on trees napping, or in the grasslands chewing on cud. Keep those eyes peeled for a lion or cheetah napping on a tree, a gazelle or zebra lazily munching away in the hot sun, elephants spraying each other with water, or a buffalo or rhino wallowing in the mud.

We sundown in the park and head to camp for dinner.

Suggested hotel: Basecamp Masai Mara or Equivalent

Meal Plan: Full-board

Day 9: Hot Air Balloon Safari and Game drive.

There’s no better way to experience the Maasai Mara than on a hot-air balloon safari. We pick you up at around 4 am, drive you to the launch site and arrive at around 6 am. And depending on the weather, you can enjoy a cup of chai as you watch your balloon prepped for take-off.

You are on air just as the sun begins to rise, and within no time, your eyes are feasting on the golden sunrise, awe-inspiring sceneries, and a myriad of wildlife. The ride lasts for an hour, and when it lands, we pick you up and drive you to breakfast, which is usually set up on the picturesque Maasai Mara game reserve savannah.

You can have it all: eggs, sausages, freshly squeezed juices, cereals, fruits, sparkling wine.

After breakfast, we drive you back to your camp and pick you up later that afternoon for an evening game drive.

Suggested hotel: Basecamp Masai Mara or Equivalent

Day 10: Masai Village Visit and Flight back to Nairobi

After breakfast, we check you out of your camp and drive towards the villages for a Masai village visit. They say the Masai are the friendliest, most cultured individuals you’ll ever meet- you’ll struggle to disagree after this visit.

It is all song, dances, and chants from the moment you step on their gate to when you leave. They also showcase their genius architecture (their huts are made from sticks, cow dung, human urine, grass, and mud) and colorful artwork, which you can purchase as souvenirs.

From here, you will catch a flight to Nairobi. We will meet you when you land and transfer you to JKIA.
